Axel thorenfeldt
1998
At age 10, Axel Thorenfeldt spent hours copying Leonardo da Vincis sketches. Later, his interest for painting, combined with a passion for biology led him into careful studies of birds, insects and plants. In the last years, however, his interest has moved to landscape painting, primarily focused on the naked coastal landscape around his childhood home in Hvaler, Norway. Axel is a solely autodidakt artist, “I learn from sketching and observing. That, in combination with studying other artists has brought my technique to where it is today.”
Living in Lund, Sweden, Axel combines biology-studies at the university with the life as an illustrator and painter. He produces illustrations and texts for books, magazines and National Parks, as well as own projects and exhibitions. He works primarily in watercolor, both in the field and in the studio.
